5 more TED Talks for lovers of nature
Last updated on June 17th, 2019
Ever since I discovered them, I’ve enjoy watching and listening to TED Talks. The range of subjects has grown enormously over the years and the best part? They’re free to watch.
Following on my my 5 TED Talks for lovers of nature post, I’ve put together 5 more of my favourite informative and inspirational nature based TED Talks.
I hope they inspire you to see the world in which we live in a better way.
1. The world’s oldest living things
In this TED Talk, Rachel Sussman shows photographs of the world’s oldest continuously living organisms. From 2,000-year-old brain coral off Tobago’s coast to an “underground forest” in South Africa that has lived since before the dawn of agriculture.
2. Unseen footage, untamed nature
Filmmaker Karen Bass shares some of the astonishing nature footage she’s captured for National Geographic and the BBC. This includes previously unseen footage of the tube-lipped nectar bat, which feeds in a rather unusual way …
3. Photos from a storm chaser
Camille Seaman was bought up to believe that everything is interconnected. She is constantly seeking out elements in nature to showcase that interconnectedness. In this TED Talk she shows amazing, surreal photos of turbulent skies.
4. Photos that give voice to the animal kingdom
Frans Lanting is a nature photographer. In this TED Talk, he uses vibrant images to take us deep into the animal world. In this short, visual talk he challenges us to reconnect with the other creatures who share the planet with us. He asks us to metaphorically shed the skin that separate us from each other.
5. Hidden miracles of the natural world
We live in a world of where we can be surrounded by unseeable beauty. Beauty so subtle and delicate that it is imperceptible to the human eye. In this TED Talk, Louie Schwartzberg shows us this invisible world with the used high-speed cameras, time lapses and microscopes. In this video, he shares some of his film “Mysteries of the Unseen World” in which he slows down, speeds up, and magnifies the astonishing wonders of nature.
